Hey all you old timers and new comers, it seems like it's been a while since there was a get together. Plus, I've never attended such an event. I have visited with a very gracious and most royal hostess who is willing to tackle the project, I think.
I was thinking of a New Years Bash in Nashville. Since that's like in the middle of the week, we may have to settle for the weekend before or after. Please give me some feedback and we'll see what we can get put together.
BTW Ms. Hostess, is that all ok with you.....

I've never been to Nashville, and would need lots of notice to book the trip, so plan away. I think the weekend before sounds good. Anyone want to carpool from the East Coast?

If we book enough rooms, we can probably get a hospitality room to hold a formal party.
I like Marriot Hotels, if there are any in the area (I collect points).
Please make sure there is transportation from an airport, because its over 800 miles and I'd probably fly (no not on my broomstick).
And, I'd like to suggest you post the official notice on the EN board too. I think some there may be interested.

I usually post on GQII, but lurk here to get insights as to what may becoming my way. A get together is a GREAT idea! Would you be willing to open this up to those of us on GQII? Also, weekends during the holidays might be difficult for those with children - what about the weekend after Jan 1?

Hey Gang,
It would depend if G's parents would be able to watch the kids. We would be up to it, need a vaca something severe. G and I met up with Cinderella, WIFTTy, and Dawnetta down there a while back. It was a GREAT time. Just have to remember not to wear washed out jeans for the laser tag gig under the black lights. The hot tub was great, nice country and the Opryland Hotel was most impressive. I'm [ok, we, are ready for a redo]. We were just chatting about this a few weeks ago.

Sounds great...How about ATL? Lots to do here. Plus they have callaway gardens which is gorgeous during the holidays. Lots of cheap airfare here also. Plus it is kinda central. Ideas? Nashville is great, but it sure is cheap to fly here.
Weekend is good.
Let's all save our pennies and dimes and maybe next year go on a MB alumni cruise...That would be soooooo cool.

when we did this nearly two years ago, the hotel was going to let us have a hospitality room but we had a very small group, so I relinquished that room and they gave me a huge room with enough lounging room for our group of 5. But we stayed so busy that we hardly used it. We chose the hot tub for our gathering activities. Kind of nice to do that in January.
My hotel choice, based on the research I did back then, would be the Holiday Inn - Brentwood. Just off I-65 in Brentwood, TN which is adjacent to Nashville. You never know when you leave one and enter the other. You know how the 'burbs can be.

Count me in. I need something new to look forward to and since the kids will be in Wally World the week after Christmas, the dates are fine.
I have to work til 1 on that Friday but maybe I can catch a flight out in the afternoon. I'll work on it.
If there were enough of us east-coasters going, we could form a car pool and take turns driving. I could supply the van. Heck, I just checked Mapquest and it's only 6 hours from the beautiful upstate of SC where I am. Anybody within a few hours of the Greenville/Spartanburg area, give me a shout at lynndkil@charter.net if you want to work something out.
