called office in Al. where d was done, we now live in Fl. Al. legal aide told me I could use their office, because of income & X wont pay what was court order for his son. X is also trying to control what he pays for, X wont do what the judge ordered. the guy was a lawyer that I talked with, he said the judge will have to make X pay what he was court order to pay. I was afraid since the judge is X dad friend he would not make him pay. Was told I would have to go to Fl agency & get referral, then Al. will handle the case. I would like to hear from anyone who has used them. Are they any good? are they slow? X works for state of Al as parole officer. X owes me $866.00. X also didnt send spousal support payment for this month, he has to the end of the month they usually come together. thats another $333 to add to our list if he doesnt pay. If anyone is using legal aide or know someone who has, please let me know. Will it help the case to have another state involved trying to make him pay. X lives in Fl with OW. but works for the state of Al in mobile. Escambia county Al. does not enforce any support for the child, FL. will.

I used Legal Aide in my county..The lady was WONDERFUL!!!

personally I think she was more competant that the lawyer I had to begin with who was charging more per hour than I could afford..and was more competant than my X's lawyer..she even put a case before the judge against x's lawyer for certain tactics he was using that are illegal in the state..

She had like 4 cases she was handlng where the h's were using this same atty. and he used the same illegal tactics in each one..since my case was first..she filed the charges with the judge at that point..and gave the other cases as references as to it being a habit with him..

I had to use legal aid years ago for a custody case. She was great. The only differance is when you state your wishes, they may say that its their way or "hire another lawyer" which in my case was impossible.
My over all experience was very good. We won.

Went Monday, first I had to fill out forms. Then talked with a lady, not sure if she was a lawyer. she said X has to pay me for court order R.X. & court order school. X stopped paying because he wants to pay directly to the school, I get the late charges($15) that he wont pay. X wants to pay the Dr. only, not me (X lives 7 hrs away). Dr wants the payment first. state of al & fl are saying the same thing, X repays me. She listen & then told me that they have a meeting in the afternoon about all the daily cases. They will call later in the week to see if they will accept my case. I do know that X will have to tell the judge why he stopped payments, & why he wants to control a family that is no longer his. I am the head of household now.
