Ok. So I know the d will go through. That is a given now.
And yes, sometimes it still hurts, the betrayal part. But one of my girlfriends watched Dr. Phil a while back and told me that I have to get the happy outta my head. When romances end, we cling to the good not the bad. Not that we should dwell on the bad, but remember it whole. And they started talking about helping me further detach from this sad situation.
And this morning it dawned on me and I giggled all the way to work. One of my girlfriends here gave me totally disco CD for Christmas along with some other fun goodies. On the CD is "Macho Man" by the Village People. I listened to it and song screamed of Deucey. It sounded so funny. And just like in Ally McBeal, I found a new song for me. Like a silly cartoon in my head I listened to the words and the words describe a guy that is totally fogged and in love with himself. Listen to the words and you'll laugh too.
This is a great way to start the new year. When you really sit down and think of WS actions, they are hurtful for us yes, but when we can step far enough back from them we see that they are acting as if they volunteered for a total lobotomy! Loonier than loony tunes imho. And when you detach far enough as I think I may have accomplished this morning on my horrendous commute (1 hr. 15 minutes) you would be laughing too. Just remembering last year when he showed up at a cocktail party where me and my girlfriends happened to be and we witnessed him falling out (yes falling out like Cheech and Chong) of a limo, stumbling in the party and dancing around like a wierdo and walking up to strange women and playing with their hair, it reminded me of this song. He thought and still thinks he's so cool. That night I personally witnessed four women shoo him away.
Maybe you guys could come up with a detachment tune. It is fun and helpful. Really brightened this day ok?

If it weren't for photo albums to prompt me that once in a while, we were next to each other and smiling, I wouldn't believe it.
'My song' after the separation was IT'S MY LIFE, a newer song (at the time) by Bon Jovi. It gave me strength.
"I ain't gonna be just a face in the crowd You're gonna hear my voice When I shout it out loud
It's my life It's now or never I ain't gonna live forever I just want to live while I'm alive
Better stand tall when they're calling you out Don't bend, don't break, baby, don't back down"

I'm with you PB. I have only bad memories. I think in my case identifying the emotional abuse really helped me to see the reality - not the fantasy in my head.

peachy, thanks for making me laugh. I think I'm at about the same stage you are. My own "fog" is starting to clear and I'm seeing REALITY and it hurts. I too have been "clinging to the good" not believing he'd really turned into the creep he's become. And you're right:
quote:
When you really sit down and think of WS actions, they are hurtful for us yes, but when we can step far enough back from them we see that they are acting as if they volunteered for a total lobotomy! Smoky was soooo cool. Unlike Deucey.
And the lyrics of Macho Man really describe Deucey totally. In fact describes most WH's. We need a song for WW's. We've got the generic wayward spouse song by Smokey Robinson and the ultimate foggy wayward husband song "Macho Man" and we need a waywayd wife song now.
Mr. Piper, and my buddy harold, won't you please search for a song for the poor guys out there to chuckle to?

Yea...I loved that part of Police Academy. Hilarious. But deucey dresses more like Bono or some rock star when he ventures out...I miss the way he used to dress (don't miss him). He was very conservative and a sharp dresser.
And am praying for your quitting of cigarettes. No more smokes!!! I will help you and find some good info for you. Work in cardiology and we help alot of patients quit. When I get some time, I will post some info just for you and your quitting.
Today I listened to macho man and thought of that and the song from American Gigolo " Call Me" by blondie.
It helps when you can laugh a little. This guy wants to live la vida loca (I think R.M. is soooo hot and that can be my song!) and not pay his x wife any alimony or child support. What a loco gringo. lol!
I am trying to stay sane. It's hard when you come to work finding three awful emails from deucey. I just remember he's got either a terminal case of fog or brain cloud (joe vs. volcano) remember that one?

Detachment song?
Here is one that I find really good. It's off the latest Keith Urban CD.
YOU'LL THINK OF ME
I woke up early this morning around 4am... With the moon shining bright as headlights on the interstate. I pulled the covers over my head, and tried to catch some sleep... But thoughts of us kept keeping me awake. Ever since you found yourself in someone else's arms, I've been tryin' my best to get along But that's okay, There's nothing left to say, but...
Take you're records, Take your freedom. Take your memories I don't need 'em. Take your space and take your reasons... But you'll think of me.
And take your cat and leave my sweater 'cause we have nothing left to weather. In fact I'll feel a whole lot better, But you'll think of me, you'll think of me...
I went out drivin' tryin' to clear my head. I try to sweep out all the rooms that my emotions lived. I guess I'm feelin' just a little tired of this, And all the baggage that seems to still exist. It seems the only blessing I have left to my name, Is not knowing what we could have been what we should have been, so...
Take you're records, Take your freedom. Take your memories I don't need 'em. Take your space and take your reasons... But you'll think of me.
And take your cat and leave my sweater 'cause we have nothing left to weather. In fact I'll feel a whole lot better,
But you'll think of me, you'll think of me...
Someday, I'm gonna run across your mind, but don't worry, I'll be fine, I'm gonna be all right. While you're sleeping with your pride, wishin' I could hold you tight, I'll be over you And on with my life
So take you're records, Take your freedom. Take your memories I don't need 'em. Take your space and take your reasons... But you'll think of me.
And take your cat and leave my sweater 'cause we have nothing left to weather. In fact I'll feel a whole lot better,
But you'll think of me, you'll think of me...
The song is really good. Of course if you like modern country music, that is.
Boo
