I divorced my wife this past Aug. after I put up with her affair for almost 7 months... I am doing great now. I have one problem. My ex-wife has been calling me daily. I did quit speaking to her for a month or so but she continues to call, crying and telling me that she misses me etc. She now lives on the east coast and I live in the Midwest. She asks if she can come and stay with me etc. I have told her that we will never be together again for what she had done. I would like to be friends but I think she assumes we will be together again some day... No we will not. I am ready to start dating now and I feel I am over my wife for good...if I do start dating I don't think it would be fair to the person I am seeing if I speak to my ex-wife. How should I handle the situation? I don't want to hurt her... don't ask me why?! PS If I just turned 33 is a mature, bright 23 year old too young for me??

So forget about being her friend (it will only prolong her pain and give her nothing but false hope) and consider changing your telephone number so that she won't be able to call you anymore. Eventually she'll realize that it is indeed over between the two of you and she'll move on with her life.
As far as the age difference, I don't beleive that age should be the sole determining factor in dating or having a relationship. There are more important factors like shared beleifs, goals and emotional maturity that should have more serious consideration.
Good luck. [ February 18, 2003, 06:22 AM: Message edited by: CoffeeMan ]
