started out being a good day. went over to wifes place to show her how to use the weedwacker. all is fine then in to have dinner. we're talking great and sharing stuff with each other personally. then it starts to turn ugly. she mentions letter from church that i said really hit home that finality of marriage looks more real than ever. she says she's been trying to tell me that for 3 months and i was'nt listening again to her. so i say i would like to have all my love letters, poems, pictures of me, and the wedding ring back as part of my healing prior to her divorce. i myself don't want one. she says no problem except for the ring. that is for her to give to her grandchildren someday. me retorting back that i did'nt marry her so she could divorce me and have kids with someone else and give the ring to their kids. background- since she's left she's told me she denied me children as i did'nt deserve them, she's decided it's ok to remarry herself so she can have some now among other things. so anyhow what do i do after she thrusts the kid thing into my heart. i take the ring off of the bureau and say i'm keeping it then. she accuses me of stealing it and i will have to live with it for the rest of my life. i'm only 5ft away by then and hand it back to her but she won't take it. i'm thinking that it's wrong and don't really want it but wanted to just hurt her. so then she says she scared and calls the police after saying i'm irrational.she did ask me a few times to leave. i tell her i'm sick of being treated mean to and for her to quite it. i'm not screaming, yelling,or trying to get back in the house. i just load up the dog and leave. i apologized in a letter to her about my pain and that i'm human as well. she has yet to apologize for anything in this marriage breakdown. everything is my fault and mine alone. i just don't get it. needless to say she did'nt take ring that i left with note and said no contact anymore. boy does loving someone really hurt sometimes. just have to go with the saying that without pain how would we know joy. i'm sure glad God loves me, and the dog. sorry for the rant people

It's just a ring. But rings were a huge issue in the early parts of my DDay, separating, reconciling, separating, and now divorcing. In the end, like so many other things, you have to tell yourself that it's just a ring and add it to all the other losses you'll be taking.
I wanted to give her ring, which was 1000xs more expensive than mine, to some homeless guy. But, she insisted it was hers, blah blah blah. I often wonder what she does with it and even what she thinks when she looks at it. My take is that she probably laughs spitefully and goes, "Haha sucker!" But, who knows? It was a token and a symbol of something that no longer exists.
It's part of cutting your losses in a divorce and I hardly ever hear about spouses giving up their rings in a divorce. Your options are theft, theft, and letting it go.

i'm not looking at it as theft. it has no monetary value it's just a band. she quite wearing it except for special occasions go figure. wears a school ring now to keep the boys away she says is all. at least now to me i can move on i hope. she did'nt deserve it as far as i'm concerned. regrets about it maybe but no sorrow
