I heard a great story last night on TV (no this is NOT an email forward, but an actual true story):
A highschool boy and girl were dating and getting a little serious their senior year. One night the father of the girl called the young boy in and asked that the boy stop seeing his daughter. He said "Now is the time for both of you to be focusing on your educations and building a solid foundation for your lives". The boy and the girl left the house and soon began to talk about their options. They could begin sneaking around her father, they could end it as friends... Then the boy said "What we need to do is trust in God and respect your father's wishes". With that he said they should be friends but not see each other again. Later that night the boy went back to the girls house and in the front lawn he dug a hole. In the hole he put a bunch of love letters to her and a ring.
Years later, the two were at their respective colleges, many miles away from each other. One day the father called the young man in his dormroom and said "son, I really was impressed at how you respected the wishes of myself and my wife. We would love to have a man like you for our daughter. If you are still interested, you have our permission to court our daughter." The boy never did stop thinking about the girl, so it wasn't too long afterward that he began to call her. Soon they met and began dating. But that isn't the end of the story.
One night after college was complete, he drove to pick her up at her parent's house. They walked out the door and strolled around the block, and ended back in her parent's front yard. From a nearby tree, the boy reached and pulled out a shovel and began digging. The girl didn't know what was going on. Then the boy pulled out a shoe-box from the hole, opened the cover, reached in and pulled out the ring he left there years ago.
There on his knees he proposed to her and with tears and utter amazement at his trust in God and in his love for her, she accepted.
They now have a wonderful marriage, raising children of their own. A true story.

So trusting in God and waiting on someone, doesn't necessarily mean we STOP our lives. The power of true love, if given the chance, can overcome all... (I have to admit, as I listened to the story last night, my eyes welled up with tears...) I thought I'd pass it along to all of us who need a little hope and faith in our lives...
God bless,
Mike
