What a couple of days! First, I find out my special kitty, the one with my birthday, has leukemia. Then today the fidge goes kaput! NOt to mention the cabinet floor under the bathroom sink vanity is rotted out because of a corroded pipe.

All I need is for my car to give out.

Will it never end???

Okay, enough pity. The situation stinks right now, but it's no where near as bad as some people. After all, the roof is new, the basement is now dry and I have a new hot water heater. So long as the furnace doesn't give up the ghost, I'm golden.

I had to chime in on this one--have had a rough few days myself but for different reasons (yes, things could be worse--my 15-yr-old daughter thought she might be PG!). But it's all relative. It all feels bad when it's happening!

First, at least where I live, a fridge is still cheaper to replace than a furnace or a car, so if the latter two are still working, you are fortunate. Go out and get one of those dandy side-by-side's with the crushed ice and filtered water and all the other bells and whistles if that's not what you have already. If mine ever quits, that's what I'm getting.

As for your kitty, I do feel for you. I had to put one of mine cats down last month. I'm still driving around with his ashes in a plastic container in the back seat, because I haven't yet bought a nicer one to put them in until I figure out what to do with them.

I miss him, but as sick as it sounds, it's been sort of fun joking around about having him with me all the time now in his little Tupperware container.

Hopefully, nothing else will go wrong for you for a while. Always seems to me like bad things come in three's--not sure why. But you've had your three now,. It's time for things to settle down.

Good points. I wish I could afford one of those glamorous ones! I'm just hoping for ice maker. I do know of a used one, no ice maker, but very cheap. That is good. Once I'm working again, I can worry about the little luxuries.

as for the other stuff, it's just stuff. Heck I've fixxed hundreds of leaks and fridges. Before I became a computer geek that is. So that stuff I never worried about.

In my experience, those glamorous refrigerators were more trouble than you think. If they go on you, you pay an arm and a leg for repairs. Good old kenmore or whirlpool basics are the way to go.

The fewer gagets, the fewer things that can break.

And I'm sure your car is much better off than the subaru!

If you're really lucky, you'll buy the cheap used one, and it will work FOREVER.

My mom and dad have a chest freezer that has to be straight out of the 50's--rounded sides, a big shiny chrome handle. It's actually very ugly (or perhaps very "retro" is a kinder term). They bought it used when I was a kid in the 70's. It still runs!
