The Lullaby

Every night before bed
Her mother would sing
Sing the sweet lullaby of words known often
The girl felt love like no other could know
The thought of alone would never come

There was laughter and fun
Fireworks and Christmas Joy
Free spirit frolicking throught the wind blown grass
Her family surrounding her
Life was a blast

Then one day the girl grew up
All the fun and love and laughter seemed to go away
The parents started fighting
The lullaby was dulled
All alone the girl would cry
Sit in the darkness
And fear the sunrise

On one fine morning it was all over
Their hearts were parted
The fighting stopped and the mother went away
No longer would the lullaby play
So the girl found a new Happiness
moved on
But still kept the soft sound in her head
Of that beautiful lullaby song

This was written by my daughter for a school project. One of the many things that still gets to me. I will post some more on other threads.

What a great poem! And I mean great as in the way she expressed herself. I'm sorry she was able to write such a thing. I have poetry from my daughter too but unfortunately it's VERY dark and sad
