Ijust sent off for a copy of oc's birth certificate. I think it will contain a lot of info. Any body else?

blue,<BR>H and I tried. The state sent back notice that he must get XOW's signed permission to get a copy, DESPITE the fact we sent a copy of the DNA report stating he's the father (despite the same state holding a court order for ch-support...GRR). Since we didn't want to beg XOW's permission, we didn't get one. (The state still has our $10 fee, too, the rats!) H must not be listed as the father. Anyone know if it is legal to leave "father" BLANK???? Her divorce was final about 1mo before birth, we think.

In my state all you have to do is send the fee and the info on child, mother and father. The mother doesn't have to sign anything. I am waiting though . I just sent it out today.

blue,<BR>I've requested birth certificates from several states (geneology buff) and many states ask what relationship you are to the person... for some, the request form (which you can get off internet) says you must be an immediate relative to obtain a copy of someone still living. We figured since H IS immediate relative, no problem, but they wrote back we needed "permission" anyway--ugh.<p>[This message has been edited by Jenny (edited June 20, 2001).]

we have requested a copy from through our lawyer via ow lawyer, and we also are requested a copy of social security card and health insurance card. My h and ow are taking turns every other year claiming oc on the income tax reture as a dependant. Well it has been almost a month since our lawyer sent her lawyer this request in writing and we have not heard. As a matter of fact we will be speaking to our lawyer tomorrow, I am going to ask him if ow refuses to give us copies if a judge can court order her to, I will let you know. Peace, Gabi1116

We just went to vital statistics office and for a $10. fee anyone can have a copy. btw it has her H listed as father because she's married. H's name in parentheses. <P>love<BR>Debi<P>------------------<BR>Imagine....

<BR>Jenny,<P>If the bc is important to you, I am quite certain that your H can legally force the bureaucrats to provide a copy. Go hire a lawyer and have that lawyer send a well-written nastygram to whoever runs the office. Imply a desire to publicize the case in the local media, "Man can't see birth certificate of his own child." Bureaucrats live by the CYA motto, and the last thing they want is the possibility of being blamed.<P>Bystander<BR>
