My fiancee is in a difficult position regarding ontact with his children. His ex will only allow him to see them at her house. I wish to be included and see his children but this prohibits this. We have been together for two years and he visits them at the weekend. He is getting irritated by the arrangement as he would like to take them out. As they were not married his solicitor tells him he has to accept this arrangement. I feel insecure about the whole thing.

Hmmm. Your fiancee was in a relationship with another woman long enough to produce two children, and they never made it legal. His choice or hers?

Why the stringent requirements on visitation "only in her house?" Are the children really young? Too young to leave the house with their Dad?

Were there ever any indications of domestic violence on either of their parts?

How long have you been engaged? When's the wedding date?

What's the basis for your insecure feelings?

a. Nervous that he'll reunite with her
b. Want him to know what an excellent stepmother I'll be once we marry
c. Wonder whether he'd marry me if I became pregnant, or whether I'd end up like his ex

You can be honest. Nobody knows either of us. Use the time here to explore your thoughts.

Does she fear letting him take them and if so you should know why.

Thank you both for your replies. I will read up on Radical Honesty.
We have been engaged for a year and will be getting married in November 2005.
I don't think they wanted to marry. He didn't officially live with them and she claimed she was a single parent all along. They were together for 14 years and had 4 children...

The visitation being only at her house is what she has decided. The two elder children pop in and out and generally are pretty independent so he'll just get a quick hi from them. The two younger play computer games and do their homework.
