Well, do I have an update.
I'm still a wee bit in shock over all of this, so bear with me if this post is all over the place.
Quick recap. H started affair (long distance) Feb 99. Moved out July 99; filed divorce Sept 99. We have signed papers and I go before the judge in 9 days to finalize the divorce!
Ok, H called last night. He had broken it off w/ OW after 19 mths. We was out of town for the weekend, visiting his sone (from his 1st marriage). He said as he was driving home yesterday, he was remembering our timed together when we traveled that way over 2 yrs ago. Some of the memories were very good [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com], and some made him sad.
He asked why I thought he would be thinking about me, after all this time. I told him I thought it was because I was such a good catch [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]!
He asked if he could come over, and I told him I would call after I got our D to bed. He came over and brought a bottle of wine!! (Oh, where is THIS headed?)
We talked. We kissed. We hugged. We cried. We laughed. It was so amazing! It was like old times again.
We talked about OW and I didn't even feel a twinge of the yucky feeling. He said that his eyes were open to her; how she used him to get out of her marriage; how she was shallow; how he wondered what he ever saw in her.
He said he realizes now how he was "emotionally ADDICTED" to her and how he fall hook line and sinker for it. He said that what he did to me (the affair) was the immoral; irresponsible and down right cruel. He said he's learned that you just don't f*** with people's emotions that way. He said he did the same thing to his 1st wife, and he never wants to do it again!
We talked about some "sensitive" issues; things that lead to the demise of our marriage. I got a little misty, but held myself together. I told him that I was sorry for hurting him in those ways. He told me that he never wanted to hurt me again.
He said that he didn't have room in his life for lies anymore. That he wanted to always be truthful. He even let me 'test' him w/ some questions!
He called me babe; He told me I was beautiful and intellegent; He told me that he missed me- he said he had been trying to talk himself out of feeling that way, but it jsut wasn't working.
He said he didn't know where all of this was headed; but that it felt "right". We talked about the divorce, and both decided to finish it off next week, and see what comes from there. Kinda like a fresh start.
He told me how much I have changed and how smart I was (again) and how beautiful I was. I said I couldn't be that smart, cuz I lost you. He said, Well, maybe for a little while- wink!
We talked a little more; kissed a little more- and a little more than that- and drank our wine.
It was the most amazing night I've ever had. He said he felt closer to me last night than he has ever felt before; with anyone.
Bottom line- If you love your spouse, DONT GIVE UP HOPE. I honestly thought I would never be in the postion to post something like this.
I believe that God is answering my prayers to heal my family and my marriage. We certainly aren't there yet, but I feel it in my heart.
I have no expectations; I have no idea where this is headed. I am staying on my gaurd, but letting things happen as they come.
Thanks for listening!
God Bless,
Cheryl
[This message has been edited by ceecee (edited August 15, 2000).]

hey Cheryl,
Long time no type [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] . WOW!! I'm almost speechless. But I am really happy for the progress. Kind of gives me some hope. I think you are WISE not to have any expectations. That's the hardest thing for me. It always seems as if I set my self up for disappointments continuously. Cheryl, I really think that this is good news. And I will continue to lift you up in my prayers. I will stand and agree with you in the restoration of your marriage and family!!
PRAISE GOD [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
------------------
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change...Courage to change the things I can...And the wisdom to know the difference.
lady_divine77@yahoo.com

Hi Jamie-
Just finished posting to you! It's so good to hear from you. I've missed you.
Ya know, it's funny how when we finally let go and let God do His work, how things just fall into place. I know things are strained for you right now, with the new baby on his way; but, God does have a plan for you and your family. Don't ever doubt that.
I'm so glad your back. Thanks you for the encouragment and support. It's means the world to me.
God Bless,
Cheryl

Hey Ceecee, good to hear from you again. Just wanted to let you know that even with your warning, my hat just blew into the next county!!!
You have come a long way and now have the strength and knowledge to deal with this new "twist". I'm glad to hear that you are approaching this with no expectations and with an ear to the ground. Just remember to never discount the "possibilities".
You've been around here long enough to know that even if things start working out, that you will have the occasional "road bump", some bigger than others. But you are strong and wise and can negotiate these potholes with ease.
Hugs and my very, very best wishes and hopes...
--DeWayne--

ceecee
I've been away a lot lately but I'm glad I caught this post.
Remember I told you I'd always be in the cheering section. Well the pompoms are flying in Canada. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
I see so many good things in your post. the part that struck me the most was your H calling you "babe". That is a major!!!
Those little pet names are a very important sign. I remember when my H was finally comfortable enough to call me "buddy" again. I think it meant more than "I love you".
Enjoy this. Make the most of it. No matter what happens you are definitely going somewhere good. Your post brightened my day, thanks for sharing your good news. I hope things work out for you and your H. Prayers really do get answered, maybe not in the time frames or in the ways that we would like - but God hears us . . .

Your post uplifted me too!! Especially since my husband has been calling me sweetie and babe for three days!! I thought it was touching too. (I had to smile when I read the "babe" thing from you.) I don't know your story; will try to find it. But best of luck!!

CeeCee! Oh more good news! Congrats, congrats.
I'm snoopy dancing for you too [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com].
Isn't it great to be called "babe" <sigh>.
My H keeps looking over at me and asking in a deep Joey-style (think Matt LeBlanc from "Friends") voice, "How you doin'?" AND winking at me!!! Over the top??? Well, yeah maybe. But I'm lapping it up....soaking it in!
Hugs to you "babe", ~Marie
