Sorry for the odd title. I have to tell someone about the oddness of my wife's attitude and requests (at least I think it is odd).
Calls me all cheery today. Disappeared Saturday, didn't hear from her till Sunday just before the kids went to bed. A little odd, but since we are separated, I suppose there is no obligation. I had a gut feeling she went with OM to a city 2 hours away. I told someone that I feared it was to meet his parents, but I doubt it. Anyway, claims that "everyone" chipped in money to send her and a girlfriend to this city (my senses were probably right), so they spent the night there. I already knew from snooping (yes I still do sometimes) that she couldn't wait to see OM Sat. night. Anyway, so be it.
She is supposed to get the kids this Wednesday for the first time, keep them till Monday morning. Asked me tonight if she could drop them off Sunday night at 7 (conveniently just at bedtime), because she is having her bathroom fixed and it will be too noisy. Now I want to be with my kids bad, but I smell something here. Sunday is usually OM night (not according to her). I'm presuming that she is looking at this stretch of Wed. to Sunday being a bit long not to be free, but I could be wrong. Anyway, I said well OK, but as long as you arrive at my place really early because I want to go to work early that day. I need to get in early any days I don't have them because the days I do, I am late. Well, she pauses, and says...."ah,...well,...maybe I won't,...I'll think about it". I think it threw a wrench into some plan. But what do you do....you want to see your kids, but this is purely a 10 minute visit, and off to bed, so I can get them ready for school/play group in the morning and be late for work. She is appealing to my desire to be with them and suckering me, I think.
And one other silly thing, she also threw in a cheery "I miss you" into this conversation, mentioned that her girlfriend comes by most days because "I am lonely". If she is lonely, then OM isn't doing his job very well. What am I doing joking about that....
Anyway, just strange. I think she is cheery because she spent a romantic night with OM on Saturday. Who knows. Now just to clarify, I'm officially not analyzing this stuff....just blabbing for no reason.
Oh, another thing. Wondered what time I'll bring my daughter over in the morning. Long story short, wife is off in the AM, so will take our daughter, and she goes to babysitter at noon. Wife said she needed to know because she wants to go to Walmart at 7 before I get there. I am sure they don't open at 7. I suspect she needs to scoot home from OMs place before I get there, or boot him out.
Lies and coverups are the order of the day I'd say. I guess if she is worried about a 5 day stretch cramping her lifestyle, that is good in a way. Life is nuts sometimes...where is an alien spaceship when you need one.

Rick,
I am sure that this week will be hard for you but maybe it will be a wake up call for your W. Know that you are in prayers.

Dear Rick,
I hope you have some good, distracting activites planned when your kids are gone. This coming weekend my 5, 4 and 2 year old boys will be with H for the first extended time since he moved out. I know if I sit home I will drive myself crazy. I don't separate from my kids well! (It was one of the problems in our marriage that I never left the kids.) I guess this is the payback.
I'm hoping that knowing the pain is coming and planning how to deal with it ahead of time will help me through. Maybe you can use the same strategy. I wish you luck!

I have the same situation coming up for me this weekend... The W has been gone for two months now and has only spent a few hours with the boys since she left. I know my concerns are going to be what kind of situation they're dealing with... She lives with a divorced friend with two teenage kids and a gay man living with her... Not exactly the home life I'd like for them to see. Kind of stinks when all your friends are married and don't go out anymore. Oh to be 18 again!

Rick - I guess rolling with the punches is part of the territory, but it sure is frustrating. See my new post in a while.
WAT

Rick,
The bright side is that she isn't having om around the kids. I agree with you in that she is all cheery after spending time with om.
As for the other times, maybe om is just using her for weekends and she is starting to realize she misses you.
I can always tell when om is around my x when she calls. She always acts real tough. Other times when I call she acts confused and I can't get a straight answer from her on things.
Hang in,
Bob
