"Temptation Island" Terminated
One general manager of a Fox affiliate in North Carolina has taken the moral high road by deciding to drop the network’s newest reality series, Temptation Island, according to Reuters news service. General Manager Tommy Schenck explained, “WRAZ will not support a program that could potentially break up the parents of a young child.” Though the couple was asked to leave the island when the show’s producers found out about the child, Schenck is concerned that the scandal and the media buzz surrounding it mean more publicity for Fox.”
Schenck continued, “We were assured that these couples would not be married (or have) children…. We reluctantly agreed to air the program with those assurances. We are not going to be part of making light of the family institution in a 'reality' program.”
Take Action!
Contact the Fox network and tell them that this is not entertainment.
Fox
Ms. Gail Berman, President of Fox Entertainment
10201 W. Hi Jim,
You know, I contacted the advertisers right after the first episode. I did get a reply from Metabolife but nothing from the rest. They merely explained that they bought time blocks and had no control over what shows their time block would be shown on. Hmmm, some how I doubt that but at least they took the time to respond. More than the rest of them did. Thanks for the additional addresses and I will contact those I missed.

Nerly & all,
I do mainly local adverstising for my business, but I've done both radio & TV. There are different $$ levels of ads...if I choose primetime and/or a specific program it is more. I can also usually chose the days my ads run. If I run "time slots as available" my ads could be anywhere--thats the kind of thing where you see the same commercial 2 times in a row.
But, on one of the radio stations there was a program I did not want my ad to appear on...my saleperson said, "no problem, I'll put a block on that time in the computer." I suppose this would vary a great deal, but it seems like if a local radio station in South Dakota (not exactly known for progressive technology)can do this, I would think it could be at least be asked for by concerned advertisers. It can't hurt to alert them to our concerns.
------------------
Lor
"Whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, gracious...think about these things." Phil 4:8
