Read that you need H to put up your fan.
Two options I can think of.
Where I live, there is a guy that has a business called "A Man Around The House". No guy wants that truck pulling in the driveway. Tell H that you've scheduled this for your ceiling fan. That may or may not work, depending on what he is like. Some wouldn't care, others wouldn't want to spend the money to pay for it.
Other option, is to make it a game. You tell him that you have a really nice surprise for him on Saturday night (lingerie, dinner, a nice evening). Tell him that he just has to put the fan up because it may get very hot in there at the end of the night. (sorry, had to say it)
If I think of anything else, I'll let you know. Thanks for your recent replies to me.

SKM - I've put up so many ceiling fans in my various houses that I think I can do it in my sleep. Tell H you know a guy with a separated shoulder who will help him for a cold beer. Actually, I like Rick's proposals better. The Man Around the House is just too funny!!
Or you can threaten to root for the Giants if it's not up by Sunday evening. Sorry, I'm trying to think of something witty, but the juices just aren't flowing right now.
Dave

You guys are too funny. Rick when I saw your post, I kind of had the same idea _ not about the man around the house (that's hysterical) but I thought I could just be in the room - naked - with one of those hand-held fans and say something like "It sure is HOT in here - how about putting that fan up and then we can make it a little hotter." I figured a little bribery goes a long way.
I think the Man Around the House thing is so funny. Ever since we moved into our house, our gutters needed to be cleaned out. And the guy behind us happened to "notice" that our gutters are packed full of leaves and offered to clean it out for us for a small fee of course. So, I told my H that I'd be willing to pay for it - and he's like, nop, nope, just need a bigger ladder that's all. And, I had to laugh - the threat of paying someone else to do this task had his manly juices flowing.
But, I had to laugh, because he's afraid of heights. In fact, at halloween, I had to climb the ladder to put our home-made ghosts in the trees - he just held the ladder and grabbed my butt as I tried to go up the ladder with the ghost between my teeth. He claimed that he liked the view better from the ground, but I know better.
Hey, I have an idea - you guys come over over and clean out my gutters/hang up a fan, and I'll go over to your house and do the Martha Stewart-Thing.
WAT - threatening to root for the Giants - well, it made me sick. My H is a Redskins fan by default - whenever I take him to the games, he is forced to root for them. He has a hodge-podge of loyalties - the KC Chiefs, the Baltimore Ravens, and then, the Redskins. I on the other hand find it hard to root for a "second team," so, I'm just hoping the Giants lose. Personally, since we live closer to Baltimore than Washington -it would be easy (you'd think) to root for the Ravens, but all this Raven's hype is wearing me thin. Everyday, there's some kind of contest or pep rally - they're really rubbing it in. They're even making PURPLE Krispie Creme doughnuts - that should be a sacrilege or something. My only consolation has been that the Redskins beat them earlier this year, yeah.

SKM, Rick and WAT:
Sorry to bust in on your thread, but when my Giants are maligned, it's incumbent upon their fans to speak up! [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] I'm a New Yorker and they're from New Jersey, but close enough . . . heh-heh.
Oh, and SKM, I've been here, just been in sort of a lurking mood for a few weeks.
Hope everyone's well!

Eeee-gads! WAT - perish the thought!!
I cannot believe my "partner in crime," my compadrie, the person who understands me - because he, too, has "been there" is a Giants fan. Jets fan I can handle, Giants - that's a little different.
And heaven forbid - a Yankees fan - although, Taxman, you may be interested in knowing that I went to school and basically grew up with Denny Neagle - he didn't do so well for you, but he was loyal to his roots here in MD!! He just couldn't wear those jail-house "stripes" of a Yankee player! :0
Anybody care to place a bet on the old football game this Sunday? Unfortunately, though, the only time I win a bet is when I bet a pizza and beer. I guess it would have to be cyber-pizza and beer - if there's any "takers" in the house.

WAT, I've had a soft spot for the Bombers since I was a wee lad and saw Reggie Jackson hit three home runs in one of those mid-70s World Series. It's been a particularly good time to be a Yank fan these past few years . . . heh-heh.
SKM, I'll be honest, football isn't really my sport. But being a transplant, and having endured the snide comments about NYC teams from my friends and family elsewhere for years, I've decided to strike back and take the opportunity to trash-talk whenever it presents itself. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
Agreed. One cyber-pizza, with cyber mushrooms and onions, and a tall, frosty cyber-beer wagered on the winner. As long as Ray Lewis doesn't sneak a knife into his pads before the game, I figure the Gints will have put it well beyond the Ravens pathetically short reach by the third quarter or so . . . [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
Take care, all!

Ugh! It only gets worse!!! Who in their right mind would put mushrooms AND onions on their pizza???!! I guess that's a New York-Thing. No wonder everyone yells in New York, they're too scared to have a close, intimate conversation (what with everyone having onion-breath and all).
Okay, Giants win - one tall, frosty cyber-beer and a pizza with eeegsh - onions and mushrooms. Ravens win, I want a six-pack of cyber-beer (because one is never enough when you're eating pizza) and one large extra cheese pizza. I mean, is there really any other kind of pizza than just plain old cheese, sauce and dough? I'm a minimalist.
Ray Lewis - well, as mentioned, I am not a Ravens fan - just don't like the Giants. The only team worse than the Giants are the Dallas Cowboys! So, you can taunt poor Ray all you like, but I wouldn't want to run into him in a dark alley - or even a crowded nightclub!
While I played volleyball in college (and still do), if I could only watch one sporting event for the rest of my life - I would definitely choose football. I am a football freak - clashing helmets, tight little pants, huddles, hail marys, and flea flickers (I just love the flea flicker, but no one uses it anymore - the reverse is close, but just not the same).
Anyway, you're on. You're probably a closet anchovie-lover, too. BUt let's just forget about that. . .
