I plan to ask my doc today to let me come off the anti-dep meds. I've been on 100 mg/d Zoloft and 3 mg/d ativan since August. I think my depression is controlable without the meds now. I feel like they've served their purpose and I find that now I need more sleep and I have trouble getting motivated, i.e., too laid back. No weight gain problems.
How has it been coming off this stuff? Did your mood or other things change? How long did it take to notice any changes?
WAT

Hey Wat!
I was on Prozac for a couple of months and for the amount of time that I was on it, it worked fine in terms of controling my mood swings. It got to the point that I was shaking and couldn't sleep more than 2 hours at a time. Instead of gaining weight I was losing it. Instead of trying something different, I decided to stop taking it. I have started to gain back some weight, and after about a week I started sleeping better. the time has increased gradually over the last month or so. I can actually string together 5 or 6 hours at a time on some nights.
The emotional swings don't come as often now, but they do come every once in a while. I seem to be able to control them without medication. I go to court today for the preliminary hearing on the divorce. I think it sucks. I woke up this morning with that old friend that used to reside in my stomach, and hasn't been around for a while. I'll see how today goes and if it gets too bad, I might try something else until this whole mess is over.
Now I was told that I wasn't supposed to stop "cold turkey" on the meds. I did though and felt pretty good.
Best of luck, and keep up the good work. I hope that you don't end up in the situation that I am in.
Mike
