Well, I went to work this morning for a few hours. I had the day off, but needed to get out of the house. Then I went to see my lawyer to file my response to D papers and to file my counter complaint on the grounds of adultery and mental cruelty. I was home for a couple of hours until my W left with our daughter for her sister's. Now I find myself here. What a way to spend xmas eve, huh? I guess the start of the new year won't be much fun either.
sad dad

You're not alone Sad Dad .... altho this is my second Christmas alone, this is my first Divorced.
Feels surreal to think how they (WS's) so easily replaced us and have these partners in crime taking our place. What's more hurtful is they are accepted as family without even flinching .... almost like we're "things" and not human.
Jo

resilient,
Thanks for reminding me I'm not alone.
mercy,
I'd like to hear your story.
Yes, I have a daughter. I'll be spending xmas night with her. It's not so bad being alone tonight. Better than being with her family and putting on a happy face, I miss them though.
This is so hard to go through, especially still living in the same house. My W doesn't know I'm counterfiling so the sh*t will probably hit the fan next week, but I have to know the truth and this is my only way of getting it.
sad dad

redhat,
I'm in the Chicago suburbs, but thanks for the invite. At least I know my W isn't with OM. No, there won't be OW for me. That wouldn't solve anything.
I'll tell you one thing though, a scary as it was to counterfile, it was good for my self esteem. I've sat on my hands for so long, but now that my W has filed, I've finally been able to do something to shift the power back closer to center, where it should be for any marriage to survive. I haven't given up on my marriage by a long shot, just trying to get some things out in the open so that whatever happens, at least all the cards will be on the table. If she's willing to admit to what she's been doing and still wants to proceed with D, than at least I will have the peace of mind I need to move on.
sad dad

Thanks Dawn!
What makes this so hard is that I had to do what I did today. I didn't want to counterfile on my W, I only wanted the truth. The lies and denial in the face of so much proof hurt much more than the EA (possible PA) itself, but maybe that just tells me deep down how wrong she knows this is and how much this goes against what she was brought up to believe. She's denied it to me, her family and our close friends, probably because they would tell her what she doesn't want to hear and I would no longer be the "bad guy". I just know this is going to get ugly and it never had to be that way. All I ever wanted was a sincere chance to save our marriage, but I'll settle for the truth. Have a nice xmas!!!!
sad dad
[ December 24, 2001: Message edited by: sad dad ]

Hey sd!
Sorry you had such yucky business to take care of today. My day has been a roller coaster. I was pretty down this morning... threw myself an old-fashioned pity-party... just thinkin about everything. But my Dad came in town and is staying with me for a couple of days.. I had to put my happy face on... you know, show him I'm o.k., etc. etc.
Well, I won't be on here a lot on x-mas or Wed., but I'll be around occasionally. Trying to enjoy family best I can.
Try to relax and enjoy christmas best you can. Life is too short to not enjoy times like these best we can.
Hang in there. Merry Christmas!
