Of course, it's only lose-lose for me. For him, it's win-win all the way.
Back when I trusted him, and gave him complete freedom to work as long as he needed and go wherever he wanted since he was working so hard to climb that corporate ladder -- there was no reason why he *shouldn't* spend as much time as he wanted with his girls, since I wouldn't know about it anyway.
Now that I know I cannot trust him, and want to know where he really is and what he's really doing and who he's really with -- why *shouldn't* he spend as much time as he wants with his girls, since I don't trust him anyway?
See how nice that works out? Isn't that just perfect?
He has not actually said this. But it's exactly how I feel. Has anyone else felt they were in this situation?
He's going to be in Chicago for four days next week. Maybe you can tell.
Psycho_B***h

PB...
Yes, I know what you mean. My WS tells me that S has to go here or there on business, and although I would not have questioned it in the past, now I think it's all a lie. Have no way of proving it or disproving it for the most part, so no matter which way I turn, I lose. MC wants to know what WS can do to reduce my anxiety....how do I answer that question? Even if WS sends me an e-mail with the meetings scheduled, they don't appear authentic.....seems like they were created in draft, sent to me, and not actually sent to the persons they're addressed to. WS suggests calling me....how do I know S is where supposed to be when I get the call? How do I know a cell phone isn't being used? Too many questions... Once a pattern of lies and deceit have been established I wonder if trust can EVER return. Part of the problem is I went through a similar situation with WS 14 years ago, so it's the second go around for destruction of my trust.
The first time was before we were married, and I wrote it off to being young and stupid. I was actually proud that I had worked really hard and had faith and trust in WS again. This time, I can't do that, and we've been married more than a decade. I wish I had answers for you. Sometimes I think they like that we think that's what they're doing, because it gives them free rein to go ahead and do it. We think that of them, so why not. I send you hugs and support!!! The only way I think we can turn this into a win is to focus on ourselves and not on them.

He has lost his priviledge of freedom when he betrayed you. Make sure he complies to the 3rd degree - you are not doing it to punish him, you are doing it to regain trust and build a healthy marriage and a more healthy self. We win because we learn to respect ourselves at a new level and DEMAND that respect from our spouse. If he can't treat us the way we deserve to be treated - and that includes the 3rd degree because that is the consequence of his poor decision to meet OW. Then we learn to be strong enough to live a life without him. I think when we feel confident enough to live without our spouse THEN we can set the appropriate boundaries to have a healthy marriage. I am sorry you are here. Keep working on you. Your time is not wasted as long as you are growing individually in who you are and what your expectations are and what is acceptable for you to live with.
