Or is this a topic that has been beaten to death? I think that the idea of a hormone causing men and women to behave like animals in heat is ludicrous. Circumstances, IMHO, have more to do with that than a chemical you cannot even smell. What do you think?

I've had experience with pheromones especially with the male pheromone Androstenone and even though there were some strange reactions from men and women, they seem to have more of an effect on strangers than on the people that know you. The strange reactions I got from fellow males is an almost creepy deference to my suggestions and observations on work related subjects and that is truly something quite out of the ordinary that it almost makes me feel like an alpha-male. As far as the reactions I have gotten from women they vary from outright fright to non stop chatting with me, but definetely no sexual attacks from any of them <p>Joe

Nope. My first draft said "chemical" in place of "hormone." I thought of alcohol too and changed it. I did think about wolves when I posed this question, because alpha females do release a chemical (is it a pheromone?) that causes the other females to stop ovulating. The alpha female is the only one able to get pregnant.
