Although he referred to it as "A Walk off the Platform", I enjoyed (and H appreciated) the redeeming qualities of Nicholas Sparks' "A Walk to Remember". Not many films show characters who stand for godly principles but I thought this one did.

It really doesn't fit the categories, but Secondhand Lions was wonderful. Sort of inspirational, I guess.

Dobie,
I remember wanting to see Lions but missed it in theatres. I think it's based on a true story, too. Thanks for reminding me.
I will look for Click, too. When was it released? Is it a deep drama or what?

Both movies are out on DVD. Here's the IMDB page on Click. The concept is that he gets a remote control for his life. It's a learning remote, so it starts automatically skipping things for him.

"Flyboys" is a really great movie. Great flying scenes and the love story was well done.

WOW ... glad that I didn't see the jaded response to my suggestion until several days later. Thanks Ace for the support. And, sorry that others have given up.
That being said, we don't watch anything unless we check it out on "Focus on the Family" web site. They do great movie reviews and this lets you know if there are going to be any triggers. I stongly suggest the sight if you are concerned that a subject might hurt your S.
You might want to check it out for their recommendations.

Hi Lilmom,
Your FonF web site idea is a great one. Wish I had that option when my kids were young but oh well.
Have you seen The Power of One ? I have to watch it again to remember the specifics but it was very inspiring....and a true story, I think.
I saw that you are new, (me too) so I wanted to encourage you to be open to all kinds of input, some works, some doesn't, some may seem meanspirited but was not meant that way. Don't be offended and don't take anything personally....just be yourself and seek as well as offer help when you can.
I actually got the most help when I offered 'wrong advice', attracted many passionate posters to 'help correct me', and eventually had to withdraw from the boards for 2 weeks to sort things out between my WH and me and God.....and we even called the MB Radio show at Dr. and Mrs. Harley's suggestion! I'll email personal details I can't post on the boards if you want to hear about it.
I looked for your sitch but could not find it....is it listed somewhere? Glad you're here and thanks for the movie review tip.
God Bless you, Ace

It's way down on this board. Mental problems is in the subject line. I took the advice offered and have left it alone when the advice stopped. It definately helped. I've been trying to support others like trigirls and learn from other FWW and BS. I do try to be supportive of the WS to encourage them to keep trying. I think the board at times misses this key ingredient. If either side loses hope it is very difficult keeping everything together.
Thanks again for the support. I'd like to hear your advice -- It's good for me to hear input from other BS as the emotion is out of it and it comes through much clearer than from my recovering BH.
I'm going to check out that movie...we need inspirational viewing in our house!
Thanks again, lilmom -------------- FWW - me 38 Recovering BH - 37 Married 17 years

TM: I've heard of 'Flyboys' and will try to find it. Who's in it?
BA109: My husband and I saw both.....great combination of adventure and romance. Thanks.
LM: Thanks for your kind words. Let me know what you think of The Power of One. I'll try to find your sitch on those threads.

Ditto to Tired Man on Flyboys both Arewen and I loved it. I havent seen Authur mentioned, dont know about the historical accuracy, but it has the action and the romance between Gweniver and Authur Aragon

it really has nothing to do with romance but i just watched THE PRESTIGE.....oldest son and i loved it and had most of it figured out 1/2 way through(we are clue finders with movies...) everyone else really liked it and were floored at the ending!
has anyone figured out the movie Premonition yet? from what i see on the clips her marriage is stale, he is cheeting, dies in an accident and she then figures out its a premonition and SHOULD she stop it.....that's a thought for a bs......
what we do in life......echoes in eternity!

LILMOM: My H said to ask how old your kids were....the Power of One is often shown in Jr. High and High School classes to educate regarding prejudices and what one person did to change things, but it may not be suitable for younger kids.
A and A: I see you're new.....what's your sitch? Thanks for the thoughts on Flyboys and Authur....will check on them.
NIKKO: I'm realizing that my H and I actually enjoy more movie types than than I thought. A Few Good Men had no romance but had great drama which we both enjoyed.....(our kids memorized much of the dialogue). Thanks for the input.

Kids are 16 & 9. Sounds like a good one to sit down and watch with my older one tonight. The little one is having a buddy sleep-over!
Also, I am going to add a few "sports inspirational' movies that my H and guys like....but very little romance.
For The Love of The Game Glory Road And, --- The new Rocky movie comes out next Tuesday (Mar. 20)
Thanks, lilmom

Hey Lilmom,
The Rookie was one of our favorite sports inspirational movies.
Also Rudy & Remember the Titans
We missed Rocky 6 in theatres...just didn't get there but heard it was better than 5. Tuesday...eh?
I vaguely recall that a new sports inspirational movie is supposed to be coming out..... this spring or summer, I think. Anyone know the name or sport?

LOVE ... all of those. The Rookie had our kids begging my H to hit tryouts again!! He was playing in a father son game the year that movie came out and hit a homer about 450 out the baseball stadium, and over the vistor bleachers on to the football field behind the baseball stadium. It was quite a show!! Gotta love a man who can hit a ball!
We saw Rocky Balboa and it is worth watching. Big Thumbs Up. You and your H will love it!! Super Fabulous for the over 40 crew!!!! He even quotes scripture!! We heard that he is a christian now.
I like Sweet Home Alabama -- it's about a young couple that splits up and she goes home years later to get him to sign the divorce papers and they get back together. It's funny. And, 2 weeks Notice with Sandra Bollock and Hugh Grant. A little racy in spots. But, my all time Chick Flick favorite is Sabrina the new or old version. Both are Fabulous!!
Also, we saw Casino Royale (the new James Bond) ... anyone that is sensitive to a man "gettin' giggy" with a Married Woman beware. It's a main plot line. Seems like they can't think of anything else in Hollywood.
Later!!! lilmom
