Topie,

My prayers are with you and your friend.

I, too, have lost a child. A daughter. She was almost 3.

May I ask what was the cause of your son's death?

If what the others say is true, you might want to delete your post and start another thread so as to not tip off your H!

SoDisappointed: I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your daughter. My Andrew was almost 4 years old, when he passed away in his sleep. Autopsy and toxicology reports were made, but no cause of death was ever determined. It couldn't even be called a "SIDS" death, b/c he was too old, and whatever similarites there are for sids, weren't present with him. I have come here to talk about Andrew before... feel free to do the same of your daughter. Myself, along with many on here, would love to hear about her! (there are many MBers who have lost children... so you'll find a great support network there too).

Ladysing58, Lady_In_Red, Dobie, hope4future, Jobiemom, sing, Orchid, lupolady, tossedwave, Bellevue, and Lisa (I hope I didn't miss anyone)... thank you all so much for your replies.

As I said last night, I chose not to go to the funeral, and I'm feeling really good about that decision. I saw Darlene today (the townhouse complex had a reception after the internment), and gave her a hug, and apologized that I couldn't be there, because I couldn't bear to relive it. She understood. I'll get to talk to her more as the weeks go on, and more and more people get on with their lives... especially once school starts next week.

I heard of such a lovely thing that they did at the funeral. Shyann's casket was a bleached oak colour. And everyone there today, was invited to write on it with permanent marker, to write their last goodbyes. Most of the people signed their names along with "I miss you", etc. But other ones were more personal. I heard that someone wrote on it "Sleeping Beauty 2003", or something like that. I've never heard of anyone doing that, and I thought it was so lovely!

So sing, in answer to your question, yes, I am doing alright. Staying home is what made it that way. And of course, I thank my effexor too. (glad to see you're still around. How about an update sometime?).

Karen
